How APM is run
Her Majesty the Queen has granted APM chartered status. We are therefore incorporated by Royal Charter. The Charter is our constitution and sets out our high-level governance. We are also a registered charity. Our charitable objects are: to advance the science, theory and practice of project and programme management for the public benefit.
Full members and Fellows (MAPM/FAPM) are ‘voting members’ and have the right to attend general meetings. The approval of members would be required to propose any changes to the Royal Charter to the privy council. Full and Fellow members are eligible to stand for election to serve on the currently has nine elected trustees and up to three appointed trustees. Biographies of the trustees are available here.
In accordance with our Charter, the Board also agrees Regulations to cover detailed aspects of governance. This includes matters that the Board has devolved to the CEO and his staff to undertake on its behalf.
Our presidents
Our president and vice presidents are valued, respected and outward-facing advocates for us and for the project profession as a whole. They are appointed by our Board of Trustees but are not members of it. They engage selectively on a voluntary basis to promote us and our aspirations.
